Assistant Instructor (Martial Arts)

Assistant Instructors are an integral part of the CATTA, supporting lead instructors in delivering high-quality instruction and creating a positive learning experience for students. As an Assistant Instructor, you will play a vital role in helping students develop their skills, build confidence, and achieve their spiritual and martial arts goals.

Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Class Support:

· Assist lead instructors in preparing and setting up the training area for classes.

· Participate actively in class activities, demonstrations, and drills.

· Provide hands-on guidance to students, helping them understand and practice techniques effectively.

2. Safety Oversight:

· Monitor students' activities during training to ensure compliance with safety guidelines.

· Help maintain a safe and controlled training environment, addressing any safety concerns promptly.

3. Student Engagement:

· Foster positive relationships with students, offering encouragement and support during their martial arts journey.

· Answer student questions, address concerns, and provide assistance as needed.

4. Class Management:

· Assist in maintaining class discipline and ensuring students are engaged and focused.

· Help manage class logistics, including equipment setup, organization, and clean up.

5. Technique Demonstration:

· Demonstrate martial arts techniques accurately and clearly to assist students' learning.

· Provide real-time feedback and corrections to students' form and execution.

6. Individualized Assistance:

· Offer one-on-one guidance to students who may need extra attention or instruction.

· Adapt teaching methods to cater to individual learning styles and skill levels.

7. Progress Tracking:

· Assist in tracking students' progress and development, noting areas of improvement and growth.

· Collaborate with lead instructors to provide feedback on student performance.

8. Communication:

· Communicate effectively with lead instructors, fellow assistants, and staff to ensure a cohesive learning experience.

· Relay important class updates or announcements to students and parents.

9. Continued Learning:

· Attend training sessions and workshops to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.

· Stay informed about developments in martial arts techniques and instructional methodologies.


Qualifications:

· Proficiency in martial arts with a minimum belt ranking as determined by the school's standards.

· Previous experience in assisting with martial arts instruction, workshops, or training sessions.

· Strong interpersonal skills to engage with students, parents, and fellow instructors.

· Enthusiasm for supporting students' growth and development through martial arts.

· Willingness to collaborate and take direction from lead instructors.

Pay: $15.00 per hour.

Part-time

Schedule:

  • Day shift
  • Monday to Friday

Work setting:

  • In-person


Experience:

  • Martial arts: 1 year (Required)
  • Martial arts instruction: 1 year (Required)
